Honor. Courage. Commitment. Learn it and live it at the Quarterdeck of the Navy.

Advanced Corpsman School is offered from 18-31JUL10.

Hospital Corpsmen perform duties as assistants in the prevention and treatment of disease and injury and assist health care professionals in providing medical care to Navy people and their families. They may function as clinical or specialty technicians, medical administrative personnel and health care providers at medical treatment facilities. They also serve as battlefield corpsmen with the Marine Corps, rendering emergency medical treatment to include initial treatment in a combat environment. Qualified hospital corpsmen may be assigned the responsibility of independent duty aboard ships and submarines; Fleet Marine Force, Special Forces and Seabee units, and at isolated duty stations where no medical officer is available.

The training provided in the Basic Corpsman school is led by active duty Navy instructors from the USN Corpsman "A" School, the Staff Education & Training department of the Naval Health Clinic Great Lakes, and the North Chicago VA Medical Center.

The Advanced Corpsman school has been completely redesigned by the Navy for 2010. All instructors are combat veterans of either Iraq or Afghanistan (or both). It covers basic first aid, familiarization with hospital procedures and services, clinical rotations at the Naval Health Clinic, and training preparatory to a Fleet Marine Force (FMF) day of mass casualty drills. Additionally, Advanced Corpsman cadets get to do things and go places that the Basic Corpsman cadets don't get to go or do, including patient rounds at the North Chicago VA Medical Center.

Completion of a Basic Medical training within the USNSCC program is a requirement for attending Advanced Corpsman school. At the sole discretion of the commanding officer, equivalent work experience will also be considered.
