Honor. Courage. Commitment. Learn it and live it at the Quarterdeck of the Navy.

Naval Engineering is offered from 18-31JUL10.

The powerful ships of the United States Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine cannot accomplish their mission without a well run engine room, and efficient, highly trained men and women to operate, maintain, and repair their engines and engineering systems.

Think you'd like a career in any of the following ratings (Gas Turbine System Technician, Machinist's Mate, Electronics Technician, Engineman, Hull Maintenance Technician, Damage Controlman, Machinery Repairman, or Electrician's Mate)? Come explore these career opportunities where the Navy trains sailors who will be part of the essential engineering and hull ratings, at the Center for Naval Engineering, Great Lakes (CNE).

At CNE, you'll complete a rigorous hands-on survey course based on the Basic Engineering Common Curriculum (BECC) where all servicemembers pursuing an engineering rating start their careers. While there is some classroom time, the bulk of this training is hands-on, and you will get experience with the care, feeding, and maintenance of gas turbine and diesel engines.

Please note there are special uniform requirements for this training evolution (USN coveralls and steel-toed boondockers/work boots) detailed in the Welcome Letter.

Cadets should arrive between 1200 (noon) and 1600 on Sunday, 18JUL10. Cadets MUST be aboard and checked in no later than 1600. Please make travel arrangements that fit this window.

Officers/staff should arrive between 0800 and 1600 on Saturday, 17JUL10.

Graduation will be in BLDG 122 aboard NAVSTA GLKS at 1000 on Saturday, 31JUL10. Cadets traveling home via commercial air should book their return flight NO EARLIER THAN 1400.

Cadets who wear contact lenses are advised to also bring their regular glasses for the damage control portion of the training.
